Light and Dark

Oh no,
I am sorry - I haven't been very creative on this theme.......Light and Dark..... http://art-journal-journey.blogspot.co.at/   isn't everything we see made up by light and dark, since it's all we see - aside from the colors of course....
well here is my photo:

Hello,
nice to have you here!
Doors / Türen is the theme of the Art Journal Journey this month.
Doors....
Usually when I "do art" I think a lot.....maybe too much sometimes....so basically my art is in my head for at least a week or two. I think, I read, I research....and then finally I start.
I have been reading Frank Kafka's Metamorphosis ("Die Verwandlung") with my students the past weeks and doors are a key element in his work. So Kafka inspired me to do something on doors.

In case you haven't had a chance to read it yet, try the free e-book! (Links above!)

I did two pieces. This one is the one I like most, but then my daughter (5) told me I should put the bug up on the top, because they can crawl everywhere.....
and I tried....unfortunately the printer pulled in my paper wrong so it looks a bit off!
Additionally, I am not sure if you can actually see, that I drew with metallic crayons! (I am sorry about the lousy scan, it is the first time, I am not happy with how the scans turned out!)

I hope, you enjoyed my work!
Have a nice day....and come back soon!

Hello,

She-Art is the subject...... well, I thought I am a woman - to me everything I do seems feminine...
so I really went on a trip though all the links and I gave my very best (so far ;)):

Hello and Welcome...

this month I decided to take part in the Sketchbook Challenge and the Monthly Challenge in Art Journaling at the same time! So I had two themes (Less is more / Houses and Hideaways) in my head for a few weeks and my brain ended up combining them into one! And here it is:

I did a lino print that I printed on paper using my daughter's school watercolors again.
As the subject my brain decided to use a photograph that I had taken of a little arrangement of empty snail houses (which had been collected in our garden by again my daughter). The snails remind me of a great trip to Spain 11 years ago. We had a VW-Van and lived in it on out trip for four weeks - we even called ourselves sail since we always had our house with us. In the end we even bought little snail key chains to remind us of the trip.
With the print I wanted to use line only, since I wanted to do a piece with as little marking as possible: Less is more! But in the process I already decided on making another one next week with only lines...more line a stamp.

Thank you very much for dropping by!

Well, well... my summer holidays are over! Unfortunately, I didn't have time to do as much art as I wanted, but at least I did some:

Here is my work in progress:
Squares / Quadrate

Material: Nail polish on paper (old book)

I also created some squares when I was on holiday. My daughter and me went to a creativity workshop for kids and we all ended up making squares:
My son's square. He will be 3 in October.
My daughter's square. She is 5 years old.
And the bottom two are mine!

Hello....
I am awfully sad that I missed most of "The Summer of Color" this year! It is such a lovely and inspiring idea! Thank you http://twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.de !!!!! I will join again next year!

But I had a very good reason not to join....we were on holiday at the North Sea and had the best weather ever! We now all have a nice tan and look very healthy and relaxed only my little ones had and still have to suffer from tons of bites. Obviously the evil creatures prefer kids to adults!

More soon!

The Summer of Colours - Week 4 - Charcoal Grey & Pale Pink

In a second  step I tried to add some more texture by using my daughter's glitter glue pens and it turned out quite nicely, but unfortunately it is hard to recognize on the photo unless you zoom into it quite a bit!

First try.....in: Charcoal Grey & Pale Pink:

Note Cards

Yesterday I made some note cards for the seniors, who voluntarily read with children at our school to show them how much we appreciate their work! Thank you!
